A BIT ABOUT THE WORK

Imaginal coaching is a unique form of inquiry based coaching coupled with a transformative learning curriculum, grounded in the concepts and principles of imaginal psychology. The intention of the work is to help you achieve a deep shift in perspective, leading to a more open, flexible and integrated experience of life and work.

As the name suggests, Imaginal Coaching is interested in the images that inhabit your worldview. Shifts in experience and how you make meaning can lead to profound and sustainable creative change. We believe in getting your mindset in optimal shape first and then the behaviors, practices and outcomes you seek will begin to flow in a more effortless fashion.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Imaginal Coaching is an integrated praxis of coaching and transformative learning. We offer a series of high impact coaching and learning engagements that last six to eight weeks. While a working relationship may extend beyond this timeframe, we feel that the work will benefit if there are boundaries in place. We want you to immerse yourself in this work for a period of time and then get back to your life and professional pursuits, energized and ready to engage. The descriptions below provide more details on our offerings and please do not hesitate to get in touch if you would like to test drive a program in one of our free introductory sessions. We like to talk to people.

SHIFT

SHIFT is our foundational coaching and transformative learning program. Our primary goals in this phase is to help you regain your personal and professional autonomy while creating the interior space required for new experiences and ways of seeing. Are you truly authoring your experience or are adaptive elements in your character running the show? Do you have your values or do cultural and societal values have you? Over eight weeks, we provide a high impact course in personal and professional identity transformation. It is a course we feel every human being should be exposed to because it has the potential to fundamentally shift how you experience your work and your life. This program is deeply grounded in a wide variety of literature that we are happy to share with you.

THRIVE

The second offering in our four part series focuses on igniting human capacities and strengths that are your natural birthright and grounded in your mammalian emotional architecture. It focuses on how we can harness our innate emotional energy centers in creative and constructive ways to get what we desire rather than letting them run independently in the background of our personality, often sabotaging our best intentions. We like to think of it as a black belt in emotional intelligence.

WORKFLOW

Work continues to evolve at a pace that can easily overwhelm even the most organized, competent, and purpose driven amongst us . The goal of the workFLOW series is to help you re-imagine and re-vision your work so it is a manageable practice. A state of continual overwhelm is not an optimal environment for complex thought. While the nature of work continues to evolve in a kaleidescope style fashion, we are often still using approaches and mindsets that we absorbed unwittingly somwhere in our development. Despite what science has known for some time, archaic motivational styles are still very common at school and work. Unfortunately, these dynamics can shape our interior ways of knowing and this can erode the intrinsic capacities needed for sustained
engagement in moving work forward that
actually matters. WorkFLOW helps you
restore a supportive sense of play to your work by crafting a sustainable, intrinsic process of engagement. Are you controlling or supporting yourself at work? This small shift can make a world of difference.

THE CREATIVE EXPERIENCE

I have been working on this section for the last ten years, and I am honored to share it with you. It is the poetic culmination of the previous three programs and exposes you to some of the most excellent teachers and writings on the importance of being creative in your everyday experience. The soul is a primary metaphorical concept in imaginal psychology, and while it is an elusive term with incredible depth, you can learn to live and work with the soul as a guide for enhancing creative action in your daily experience. The soul turns events into experiences, transmuting abstract concepts of living that have gone flat, into a deeply textured creative experience of being.
"Soul is not a thing, but a quality or dimension of experiencing life. Soul is related to depth, value, relatedness, heart and personal substance" -T. Moore

ABOUT ME

My name is Doug Glew, and I am the founder of Imaginal Coaching. I am passionate about coaching as a skill for helping people develop and unfold. I am also passionate about transformative learning as a form of adult education for developing the skills and capacities necessary for actively engaging your personal and professional life in a more creative style.  This form of education is not something that is done to you but an internal process that needs to be kindled and tended to until it ignites and develops the requisite strength to pursue its unique path. I hold a Masters Degree in Psychology and I am certified by the International Coach Federation as a Professionally Certified Coach. I also hold degrees in Economics and Finance with over 20 years of business development and high-level sales experience.
